Protect the Paluxy Valley formed out of necessity to safeguard our environment from unregulated, massive industrial projects that directly threaten the river basin, air quality, and human well-being. Landowners across the Paluxy Valley, including Hood County and Somervell County, deeply value this region for its rural way of life. It is a peaceful community that we proudly share with the 300,000 visitors who travel here each year to experience our natural wonders and historic heritage.

This region offers immersive experiences that bring people close to nature, providing true healing for the body and soul. Locals and visitors alike spend their days fishing, hiking, biking, camping, stargazing, studying rich geology and paleontology, or tending to local farms and ranches.

Glen Rose is proudly known as the Dinosaur Capital of Texas, home to 113 million year old dinosaur tracks that are globally recognized as some of the best preserved in the world. Visitors flock to historic sites, museums, Dinosaur World, and Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, making tourism a vital pillar of our local economy. Nearby Granbury, which has been voted the Best Historic Small Town in America for consecutive years, stands to lose its iconic status and charm with over a dozen data center projects proposed across Hood County.

Proposed industrial facilities plan to discharge industrial waste directly into the water tributaries that feed the Paluxy River. Scientific evidence indicates that this run-off would accelerate erosion, deteriorate water quality, and coat these prehistoric tracks in silt and pollutants, risking their permanent destruction.

Because this region remains largely unregulated and unincorporated, it has historically relied on dedicated local stewards to preserve its natural beauty. We have stepped forward to carry on that responsibility. Our community members and supporters are the true heroes of this story. Our role is simply to serve as guides, dedicating our time and energy to building the pathways necessary to empower local voices, organize strategic action, and protect our shared future.

Our organization leads active initiatives to study local water supplies, monitor air quality, and analyze multi-county regulations. We use every available tool to advocate for landowners, wildlife, the local ecosystem, and the visitors who cherish this land, as well as the state park that cannot speak out for itself.

Our region has a long history anchored by healing waters. While the mineral springs that once sustained historic institutions in Glen Rose decades ago have dried up, our resolve to conserve our remaining water has only grown stronger. We are committed to ensuring our shared water resources stay clean and abundant for future generations.

The Paluxy Valley is also home to some of the most spectacular dark skies in Texas, offering clear views of the constellations. On quiet nights, fields illuminate with fireflies while the sounds of screeching owls, howling coyotes, and scurrying Texas armadillos fill the air.

With 4,000 acres of proposed data centers and gas plants threatening the Paluxy Valley, our mission is clear. This land, its wildlife, and our rural heritage are undeniably worth protecting.
